PPGA/UFLA RESOLUTION No.. 02 OF NOVEMBER 8, 2016

It establishes criteria for selection of foreign students in the Graduate Program in Administration (PPGA) of the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA)

The Committee of the Graduate Program in Administration of the Department of Administration and Economics of the Federal University of Lavras, in use of its powers of regulation,

RESOLVES:

  1. Objectives

Art. 1st – These rules refer to foreign candidates who wish to enter the Graduate Program in Administration (PPGA), in master’s and PhD level, affiliated or not with the UFLA, gratuitousness, with the following objectives:

  1. Attend a graduate program in administration (master’s and PhD) in the Department of Administration;

  2. Broaden their knowledge in contents related to their education, in the lines of research offered by the Program;

  3. Interact with students of the PPGA, and other students of UFLA;

  4. Increase employability after returning to their country of origin;

  5. Share experiences with the undergraduate and graduate students of DAE/UFLA;

  6. Narrow the academic exchanges between the affiliated institutions (or not) with UFLA;

  7. Know other cultures;

  8. Improve the knowledge of other languages.

  1. Requirements and deadlines

Art. 2nd – Students who have already completed their undergraduate program in their country of origin are allowed to participate in the Selection Process.

Sole paragraph. Applicants who do not have a degree and/or certificate of program completion should bring an official document from their home institution attesting likely conclusion until the date of entry in the PPGA, in addition to the academic records for verification of the remaining credits/hours.

Art. 3rd – Registrations are continuously open, but the request shall be reviewed within a specified period, prior to entering the desired program, for subsequent admission, respecting vacancies and availability of an advisor within the respective area of research;

Art. 4th – Candidates accepted must commit themselves to follow the regulations and provisions of PPGA and UFLA, being aware of the responsibility to comply with all academic and non-academic obligations, during their stay in Lavras, Minas Gerais, Brazil;

  1. Enrollment

Art. 5th – Enrollment must be made by means of the specific form available from the Secretariat of the PPGA;

Art. 6th – In the act of enrollment, candidates must deliver the following documents:

  1. Diploma or certificate of completion of undergraduate-level degree or equivalent to technologist (for the master’s) or master’s (for the PhD);

  2. Academic records of the home institution certifying the completion of the program load for the required level;

  3. Two (2) letters of recommendation;

  4. Letter of acceptance of a possible advisor from the PPGA, on the area of interest;

  5. Research project for the dissertation or thesis;

  6. Curriculum Vitae duly documented with documentary evidence;

  7. Documentary transcription for English, Spanish and/or Portuguese, if necessary.

Art. 7th – The acceptance of a possible advisor is no guarantee of acceptance into the program, only one of the conditions for the applicant to plead for a vacancy in the program;

  1. Approval of enrollment

Art. 8th – A Commission for the selection process of foreign students, appointed by the Coordinator of the PPGA, shall meet to verify the information and documents of the candidates in the period determined for such purpose;

Art. 9th – Incomplete or inaccurate enrollments or that do not meet the requirements set out in Article 6th shall not be approved;

Art. 10th – The approved inscriptions shall be available in the websites of the Program, at the date set in the notice;

  1. Evaluation Committee

Art. 11th – The evaluation of the request shall be carried out by a Commission designated according to Art. 8th, composed by three permanent professors or employees of the PPGA;

  1. Vacancies

Art. 12th – The Committee of the PPGA shall disclose, within the specified period mentioned in Art. 3rd, the vacancies available for the entry of foreign students according to the availability of guidance of each professor, according to the specific area of the selection process;

  1. Selection

Art. 13th – The selection process of foreign students shall consist of three phases, namely: 1) Curriculum Analysis; 2) Project Analysis; and 3) Interview.

  1. The curriculum analysis shall follow an existing score table defined during the selection process;

  2. The project analysis shall be executed by the selection Committee. Projects must be written in Portuguese, English or Spanish. Any other languages besides these will not be accepted;

  3. The interview will be conducted by the Selection Committee in Portuguese or English, through conference calls or in person at previously agreed date and time.

  1. Final Result and Convocation

Art. 14th– – The approval of the foreign candidate shall be public, and it must be disclosed in the website of the PPGA;

Art. 15th – Before the approval, the candidate(s) shall be convened by e-mail, registered mail and website, according to the order reached in the selection process, respecting the availability of vacancies;

Art. 16th – Shall be considered as quitters those who, within the time limit established, do not effect the registration. PPGA does not hold any remaining responsibility with the process;

  1. Final Considerations

Art. 17th – Omitted cases shall be solved by the Selection Committee, which will have powers to decide on the relevant actions.

This resolution shall enter into force on the date of its approval.
