Research Lines

The training program of the Graduate Programs in Plant Physiology can be directed to the following areas, isolated or jointly, according to the student´s interest and advising availability.

Molecular Biology

Advising Professors: Antonio Chalfun Júnior, José Donizeti Alves, Luciano Vilela Paiva.

Study of molecular and biochemical bases associated to the regulation of phytophysiological processes under different environmental conditions.

Plant behavior in natural and agricultural ecosystems

Advisong Professors: João Paulo R. A. D. Barbosa

Study of the extra and inter-specific competitions of plants for environmental inputs, such as light, water and minerals, in natural and agricultural ecosystems.

Plant physiological behavior under environmental stress

Advising Professor: José Donizeti Alves

Evaluate physical-metabolic responses of annual and perennial, exotic and native species under edaphoclimatic stress conditions.

Physiology of sexual and asexual plant propagation

Advising Professor: Amauri Alves de Alvarenga, Moacir Pasqual, Renato Paiva

Study aspects regarding the biochemistry and metabolism of germination and seed dormancy; in vivo and in vitro vegetative propagation of species of forestry, medicinal, ornamental and food interest native of the cerrado and other ecosystems.

Physiology and anatomy of medicinal, ornamental and fruit plants

Advising Professors: Amauri Alves Alvarenga, Evaristo Mauro de Castro, Renato Paiva

Study the morphophysiological changes of species of interest and others with medicinal and food potential, native of different environmental conditions, and their implications over plant metabolism, development and production.

Carbon and Nitrogen nutrition and metabolism in higher plants

Advising Professors: Flávio Meira Borém, Luiz Edson Mota de Oliveira

Study the relations of nutrition, assimilation and metabolism of C and N associated to plant development processes.
