About the Program

The Graduate Program in Statistics and Agriculture and Livestock Engineering, tied to the Department of Exact Sciences, was implemented in 1996, at the Master´s Degree level, and in 2002, at a Doctorate Degree level.
The majority of the egresses are professors and researchers. The applied character is one of the strong aspects of the program, for integrating research lines conducted by professors from different applied areas. The objectives have been the formation of high level human resources, trained to act in education and research activities, in Brazil and abroad.
For the research activities, the students elaborate projects, conduct research and publish the results in journals and scientific events. In addition to the researches, we develop a solid theoretical basis in disciplines and bibliographic research. Important and current research lines are contemplates by the research and teaching activities. The researches, basic and applied, contribute for the development of methods and processes in the many related areas. We produce new methods for data analysis or improve those existent, resulting in the increasing quality of experimental data.
Since its creation, the program has received students from many Brazilian states, as well as professionals from public and private education institutions. The contribution of fostering agencies CAPES, CNPq and FAPEMIG has been relevant and essential. The professionals graduated from our program have participated in research teams and acted as professors in many institutions, reaching prominent positions in many companies. Some of the highlights of the program are the professors acting as reviewers national and international journals and as evaluators in the scientific initiation, as well as participating of recycling programs.
