About the Program

The Master Program in Agronomy/Entomology was implemented in the Higher School for Agriculture of Lavras, today known as Federal University of Lavras (UFLA), in march of 1984 as one of the subareas of the Master program in Agronomy/Phytosanity. In 1996, the subarea of Entomology was transformed into a Master Program in Entomology and in 1999 started the Doctorate program. In 2013, the name of the program turned from Agronomy/Entomology to Entomology, and new lines of research were created.

The Graduate Program in Entomology has as goal the formation of researchers, professors and technicians specialized in the concentration field of Agricultural Entomology. The applicants may be graduated professionals, preferably in the fields of Agronomy, Biology and Forest Engineering. For Doctorate, it demands the title of Master, obtained in the same field or related ones.

The programs have the maximum length of 24 months for Master’s and 48 months for Doctorate, according to the current legislation.
