The Graduate Program in Applied Botany started its academic and research activities in 2012, with its project for the creation in the Masters and PhD levels approved by CAPES with the score of 5 for both courses, then highlighting the excellence of the proposal. The program stands out in the country for it is the only one with the specific focus on Applied Botany, this being a tendency in foreign countries and unprecedented in Brazil.

In this context, the goal of the Graduate Program in Applied Botany is to form master and doctor professionals with high academic and technical level to perform in the different fields of Botany as professors and researchers, having as focus the knowledge application to this field of science in order to enhance various humane activities. In this way, masters and doctors formed in the Graduate Program in Applied Botany have as mission the commitment to science and to the society leading human actions to contribute to a more sustainable management of natural and agricultural systems.
